OUR MISSION PROJECTSWedgewood United Methodist Church donates food and clothing throughout the year for Ellet Good Neighbors. We also have a special food drive at Thanksgiving and collect Easter candy and Christmas toys for Good Neighbors. We continually contribute to the United Methodist Church's worldwide relief organization, UMCOR. (see below for our current UMCOR Mission Project) We have a Missions Coordinator who organizes other projects such as the Hat and Mitten Christmas Tree, Flood (relief) Buckets, The Heffer Project (helping to buy farm animals in third world countries), and school supplies for the Ellet community. Angel Food Ministries is a monthly food organization dedicated to providing groceries to communities all across the country at a low cost. Wedgewood is excited to be a part of this national program. CURRENT UMCOR MISSION PROJECTFlood Buckets With hurricane activity, tornados, tsunamis and flooding, Flood Buckets are always needed at the Sager Brown UMCOR facility in Louisiana and the Midwest Distribution Centers in Illinois. Each year at Annual Conference many churches bring flood buckets. This year our church will be collecting items for flood buckets. Each month you will be asked to bring different items needed to make up the buckets. Please bring exact type and sizes listed as they are needed to fill the buckets properly. If you would prefer, you can place money in an envelope and mark it "Flood Buckets" and we will buy what supplies we do not collect. Our goal is to fill a minimum of ten buckets. There will be a big bin at the top of the stairs. You can place items in there. |
